Chopstix-Tacoma

Date: 2/27/2009
Time 8:00PM

Have you ever gone to a bar at 8:00PM before? If you havent, let me save you from one of the lamest experiences you will ever have.

It is Chopstix Piano Bar, at 8PM, sober.

This bar is really cool. They have a good atmosphere, and the pianos are lots of fun. They performers are incredibly talented, they each know literally thousands of songs. All this is much more cool when you are drunk. When you are sober, this is quite possibly the lamest bar ever.

You basically have to sit down at a table and watch the piano players. The crowd is mostly 30 and 40 and 50 something’s. I went here on my 21st and had a blast.

This could have been the 2 AMF’s, 2 mojito’s, 3 Irish car bombs, 3 jello shots, wedding cake shot, buttery nipple shot, and 2 beers I had there. This night, I had one beer. I did not have fun.Anyways, this is a great place to go if you are having a birthday, but make sure that the driver is someone that doesn’t like having fun, or that you don’t like.

And last time our waitress was super hot, and i was saying in a drunken stupor the horrible, nasty things i would do to her if given the chance, and of course, she was standing over my shoulder. She just laughed. I love her! The waitress this time, not so great.

Ozzie's

9:30 Ozzie’s

This place is possibly up on Capitol Hill. Or it is down on 1st. I wasn’t driving, nor was I paying attention. In fact, i may have been shouting obscenities at pedestrians, or on the phone...I really don't know.

Ozzie's though: It was OK. The drinks were pretty good. I don’t know about price, I bought 2 rounds a couple other drinks and it came to $91. It could have been like 14 drinks, it could have been like 3. I don't know. When i go to a bar and get a few drinks in me, i have a tendency to buy rounds. Several. Bit of a problem, but whatever. Anyways, getting out for $120 with a tip wasn’t really what I had in mind for a Thursday night, but you can't win them all.

They have Karaoke, too. But the bitch running the booth was quite possibly born yesterday. They didn’t have “I Got a Man” which is the mainstay of any good karaoke duet, so that pissed me off.

And you can’t request songs like a normal person; you have to request a number that corresponds to the song. "Yeah, hit me with 4454333884."Like i am a robot and sing in binary or some shit like that.

Fucking stupidest system ever, if you ask me.

And Jesus Christ, this is the 21st century: If you don’t have a song, get on goddamn iTunes and download it. Don’t be like “sorry, we don’t have it.”

So we were here for like, 3 hours. Originally, we were headed to Chopstix, but we apparently parked 10 blocks away, and this joint was across the street, so we were like "here we are..."

And in we went. THe bartender was this tattooed chick, there were maybe 30 people in the bar, and it was freaking freezing outside. Like, a lot of freezing. Piss would freeze before it hit the ground. Either the cold air up on Cap Hill or the cold air rolling off the Sound near First, depending on where this place is is my theory.

Buenos Aires

Date: 2/26/2009
Time: 8:30

I went here with a female friend and my homeboy. Yeah, homeboy. I am gangsta like that. We were going to the female friends roommates boyfriends birthday. Kind of a tenuous link, but I am down to party for almost any reason.

"Hey, its Tuesday, want to drink?" Fuck yes I do. And this was a Thursday, the only way that i wouldn't have been there was the promise of a threesome with Kate Beckinsale and Scarlett Johansen. Short of that, Buenos Aires, here I come!

The nice thing about this bar is that the parking lot across the street has a dumpster you can pee behind and people cant really see you. Always good when you pre-game like any true partier does.

So this was either a bar, or a restaurant with a bar. I don't know, i was 4 beers deep getting there, and proceeded to down a mojito and a Pelligrino, and then some sort of alcoholic grape drink. Jackie, the bartender, was a friend of roomie, so the grape thing was free, an offer hard to pass up.

My friend and i just sat and watched the Huskies beat ASU and talked about our upcoming vacation to Hawaii (its not just me and him, FYI). Then we left.

This is a great place to start the evening, but i dont think it is designed to be the hot nightlife spot in downtown or anything. Its on Virginia, between 3rd and 4th.
